A few reports have surfaced saying that Maserati has its eye on the Alfa 4c as the basis for competing with the Porsche 911.
Maserati's focus had altered to new saloons and an SUV from the wider fiat parts bin. But the Modenese want to fightback with a mid-engined V8 sports car to bring the marque back to its roots.
Uk magazine Evo showed a mock up drawing speculating it would revive the GranSport name and is being pushed to fiat execs by Harald Wester, chief executive of Alfa Romeo and Maserati who will build the 4c.
