Alfa Romeo's new line up

Autoexpress have published information on a leaked Alfa Romeo product plan detailing five new models. They include the 4c, two saloons, an SUV and a replacement Spider. The 4C sports car will lead as the halo car and is going to be faster than first thought, receiving the new 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 300bhp and TCT dual-clutch gearbox to match the Porsche Cayman for performance. They go on to state 20,000 4Cs will be made over a five years from 2013 at around £40,000.

Alfa Romeo has announced a new turbocharged 1.8-litre engine producing 296bhp. Rumours are it is destined for the 4C.

The new engine will be built at the Pratola Serra plant in Italy starting in 2013 giving rise to the rumour the 4C will be delayed until 2013.

The 1.8-litre turbo is also likely to see action in the SUV due in 2014 along side the 159 replacement.

The new engine meets the ultra strict "Euro 6" pollution regulations.

Alfa Romeo displayed the 4c at the Frankfurt motorshow. As predicted a new colour and some new leggy models but very little in the way of additional details.

UK Debut of Alfa 4c

Alfa Romeo has confirmed the UK debut will be at Goodwood Festival of Speed. This event has a close association with the factory who usually empty their museum for Lord March’s use.

Concept car inspiration

Automotive News Europe are reporting the Alfa 4C design concept will draw inspiration from legendary 33 Stradale.

They published computer generated images from Italian magazine Quattrotuote claiming a close match to the concept due to appear on Alfa Romeo's stand at the Geneva Motor Show.
